Tiff, Myron, and I unpacked the latest elections in California and other states and the narratives shaping public perception. We discussed labels like “progressive” and why many policies often associated with that label have long been supported by Black voters—the backbone of the Democratic coalition.
We touched on claims of election fraud in California that seemed to fade once a Republican candidate secured a spot in the primary runoff, highlighting how Trump’s narratives shift when it’s an outcome he likes. We also talked about as Myron calls it the “Trashification” of the White House.
Myron and I also discussed the rapid growth of data centers across the country and the questions communities are raising about their impact. It’s an issue that has only become a national issue because they are now trying to move into “white” communities. The conversation
Throughout the discussion, the importance of nuance in conversations around voting and elections. Many online convos don’t do nuiance. Democracy is complex, and informed civic engagement requires looking beyond headlines, talking points, alogorithms and partisan assumptions.
