I am someone who accepted Christ at an early age because you know in the Christian faith you have to do that. I grew up in a very religious environment and family, my father is a Baptist Preacher. My acceptance of Christ occurred when I was twelve, in my grandmother‘s church a evangelical, holy rolling, Bible-thumping, tambourine smashing, speaking in tongues, Holy Ghost happy dancing church.
I learned the great commission call of taking the good news gospel out into the world. We were called to change the world for sure but not by legislating mandates of our faith practice onto others but by setting an example through our actions and behaviors and have people “drawn” to us because of our character; Character shaped by our christian beliefs. Today’s christian nationalism is not rooted in christianity, it has co-opted the tenets of christianity to use as a cudgel.
I long ago dismissed the need for organized religion, a story for another day, but I remain a spiritual seeker and believer of truth and I refuse to allow this heresy that is occurring to go unaddressed. The adage “Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil” comes to mind.
These MAGA heretics seem to have no shame and live by a creed of cruelty and when called out, proudly double down and in doing so shift the narrative and the culture ever so slightly. The shift towards corruption, hate and cruelty has been brewing, stirred and is bubbling up in the culture as acceptable norms. This cannot be allowed to persist without being challenged. There is my call to action…bringing humanity back in vogue.
Fascism demoralizes demonizes and destroys humanity. Democracy offers an empowering expansion of freedom, human dignity and individual expression. Let’s make humanity matter!
I will bring my experience and thoughts to this along with information and insights from others to aid in this effort. It will take all of us collectively to fight this rising christian nationalism and to once again center humanity and dignity in our lives and our politics. You don’t have to be a “christian” to be a good human being.
Let’s expose the hypocrisy and the heretics for who they are and what they represent…
A Guide to Christian Nationalism
One story and oppressive regulation at a time, we’ll connect the dots along the way.
Well written and Happy Holidays to you Miss Dee. I hope your day was filled with love, joy, and peace.
